The role of the hands in the golf swing motion are often misunderstood. A proper grip is the first issue that most instructors understand. There are certain variations that work but unless a student has adopted a working variation it is always best to set the hands in a neutral opposing relationship that allows for the proper action of the left wrist at impact. In simple terms, the left hand controls clubface and the right hand and forearm control path. That being said, educating your hands as to their role in your swing motion would be an area that all aspiring golfers would be wise to develop.
